Behind the scenes with our Repairs Scrutiny Group: Your voice, your homes, your services

Neil Riley (1)

At Honeycomb Group, your voice matters. That’s why we work closely with customers like you through our Repairs Scrutiny Group, a team of tenants who challenge, question, and help shape how we deliver repairs across all our homes.

The group recently met in July, when Neil, our Assets and Contracts Manager, joined to give an important update on the future of your repairs service, and what it means for you.

Shaping our new repairs service

During the meeting, Neil shared news about our new repair’s contractor, LC Construction, who will be taking over from 4 August. He explained that everything is on track, with the current contractor stepping down smoothly and early signs from LC Construction already looking promising.

And this positive start? It’s thanks to the group.

The Repairs Scrutiny Group have played a key part in getting us to this stage, asking the right questions, helping shape the tender, and making sure the contractor understands what matters most to the people living in our homes.

It doesn’t stop there. The group will continue to hold LC Construction to account once the contract begins, reviewing real feedback from you and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to make sure repairs are carried out properly.

They will be helping us check things like:

  • Were repair teams in uniform and easy to identify?
  • Did they explain the work clearly to you?
  • Was your home left clean and tidy?
  •  Were you satisfied with the job?

To make sure your feedback reflects the service accurately, our team will follow up with a phone call after each repair is completed. It’s your voice that helps us keep the service transparent and accountable.

Plus, Emma, the new Coordinator from LC Construction, will be based at our head office. She’ll be a key contact for our customer hub and property teams, so whether you call, visit, or raise a concern, someone will be there to listen and act.

Awaab’s Law: tackling damp and mould

Neil also updated the group on Awaab’s Law, coming into effect this October. This new legislation changes how housing providers respond to damp and mould, introducing stricter response times for repairs and requiring faster, more effective action.

To prepare, we’ve created a dedicated damp and mould response team and trained our customer hub and neighbourhoods teams to handle queries quickly and efficiently. Surveyors will also gain an accredited qualification to identify and address damp and mould problems correctly.

Thanks to recent stock condition surveys, we already have a clear understanding of the condition of our homes, putting us in a strong position to meet the requirements of this law.

Why the Repairs Scrutiny Group matters

The Repairs Scrutiny Group’s role is simple but powerful: to ensure customers get the quality service they deserve. By giving feedback based on real experiences, they help shape our repairs processes, challenge us where improvements are needed, and make sure we remain open, honest, and transparent.
